UNFCCC CAPACITY Fellowship
If you happen to stay abreast of my LinkedIn and Twitter, then you may already know that I’m presently a UNFCCC CAPACITY Fellow, where I’m being afforded the opportunity to combine my passion for international trade law with the critical issue of climate change. I'm involved in the delivery of the just transition work program which directly addresses crucial intersections of trade, environment, social protection, and gender equality – areas I'm deeply passionate about - and I'm particularly happy to be contributing to the program as a representative from a Small Island Developing State (SIDS). Unlike countries with extractive industries, SIDS like Antigua and Barbuda face unique challenges in navigating a just transition, with economies which rely heavily on service sectors like tourism, that tend to be overlooked in just transition discussions. I'm excited to bring my SIDS perspective to the table and contribute to a more inclusive and equitable approach to just transition on a global scale.
At our Fellowship side-event held during the SB60 last week this video was unveiled, sharing more about the CAPACITY Fellowship I’m on and the opportunity it presents for for mid-career professionals from SIDS and LDCs who are passionate about tackling climate change and advancing sustainable development, so I thought I would share it here for anyone interested.
(I know this post is short, as it’s mainly for the purposes of sharing the video, but in my next blog post, I promise I’ll be sharing more about the CAPACITY Fellowship and what I’ve been working at the UNFCCC since moving to Bonn in February.)
